CANADIAN singer-songwriter Shania Twain has revealed she 'did not want to live' after discovering her husband was having an affair with her best friend.

The star, whose hits include Man! I Feel Like a Woman and That Don't Impress Me Much, found husband-of-15-years Robert Lange had been cheating on her with pal  Marie-Ann Thiebaud.

In her new book From This Moment On the 40-year-old she says she was 'ready to die' and said she barely ate or slept.

But she refused to give up without a fight and confronted Thiebaud.

She said: “I had a total panic attack. I just told her that she was a bad person - that's all I could get out.

“When I left her, I thought 'you're such a wimp, you coward'.”

The confrontation was followed-up by an email to Marie-Anne, 40, begging for her husband back.

She wrote: “I am dying, and I can't take it any more. This is killing me. Have mercy.

“Why are you torturing me? Let it go. Please find love somewhere else, from someone else”

But the plea fell on deaf ears.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, Shania is now married to Marie-Anne's husband Frederic after they turned to each other after the heartbreak.
They married in January in an intimate beach ceremony in Puerto Rico and Shania now sees her marriage split as "a very positive thing", adding, "I needed the wake-up."
