Harper Beckham – how David and Victoria came up with the name

Victoria-and-DAvid-BeckhamWHEN HARPER Beckham's entrance to the world was announced by proud parents David and Victoria Beckham there were raised eyebrows among the cognoscenti.

Had the Beckham's revealed a hitherto unsuspected penchant for American literature in general and To Kill a Mockingbird (written by Harper Lee) in particular?

Alas no. Baby Harper was named after a character from Disney series Wizards Of Waverly Place.

Beckham boys Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, eight, and five-year-old Cruz are said to have been behind the name as  Wizards Of Waverly Place  is their favourite TV show.

A source said: “The entire family had input – Victoria and David love the name, but it was the boys who actually came up with it.

“Victoria loved it because it’s an Olde English name and even though Harper is an American by birth, she will always have English roots.”

When it came to baby Harper’s middle name Seven, that is her father’s ‘lucky number’, famously being his squad number for Manchester United and England.
