Arctic Monkeys Suck It And See bags first award – but is it deserved?

arctic-monkeysARCTIC Monkeys' album Suck It And See has won Best Album at the 2011 Glenfiddich Mojo Awards.


Readers of the 'mature' music mag chose Rumer as Breakthrough Act of the Year and John Grant as Best Live Act.
The ceremony, at The Brewery in London's East End, was attended by big names including Led Zep's Jimmy Page, Sir Bob Geldof and Phil Collins.
Public ImageLtd won the Outstanding Contribution To Music award and frontman and Sex Pistols legend John Lydon said: “The record companies have kept me bankrupt for 18 years.”

Arctic Monkeys third album Suck It  And See received mixed reviews when it was released earlier this year.

The Observer said 'the thrills on Suck It And See are muted' but the NME went for '
intelligent, love-steeped songcraft'.
