100 boozed-up middle-aged women end up in hospital after seeing Take That

Numbers of females treated for alcohol-related injuries leapt up on almost all of the eight Manchester dates on the Take That tour.

Almost 70 women were ejected from the City of Manchester stadium - where Robbie Williams and the band were performing - because they were drink.

Medics at Manchester Royal Infirmary had to treat about 160 extra patients on the concert dates.

Most of the patients were middle-aged women being treated for booze-related injuries including broken wrists and alcohol poisoning.

Dr Steve Jones, the MRI's clinical director of emergency services, said: "We saw an increase from people who'd been at the Take That concerts."
