Old woman discovered living in shoe

E-mail Print PDF

Shoe-houseTHERE was an old woman who lived in a shoe – well Ruth Miller may not be so old but she sure does live in an oversized piece of footwear.

The Shoe House is one of America's craziest properties and home to Mrs Miller – grand daughter of footwear millionaire Mahlon Haines.

It was constructed in 1948 by Haines a local shoe salesman, who built up a business to own nearly 40 stores throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Today the oddball building in Hellam, Pennsylvania, offers paid trips for tourists.

So is this the oddest house in America?

We'd say it was a shoe-in.
