Hit and run victim's leg found on roof four days after crash

TUncle-Bobs-Self-stroageHE severed leg of a pedestrian killed in a hit and run collision was found on a rooftop four days later, after police returned to the crash scene.


The man was killed in the incident close to a self-storage firm called Uncle Bob's in Mesa, Arizona.

His missing limb was retrieved from the roof of one of the lock-ups, about 106 feet away from the collision site.
Mesa police Sgt. Ed Wessing said that the lower-left leg of the victim was found after police returned to the scene of the collision after finding no evidence when they originally recovered the suspect's vehicle.

Jose DeJesus Padilla-Rodriguez, 23, faces two counts of failure to stop at a serious injury or fatal collision and two counts of failure to remain at a serious injury or fatal collision, both felonies.

He told investigators he was aware he struck two pedestrians and did not stop to render aid.

The surviving pedestrian was severely injured but is in stable condition.
