Pete-DohertyBABYSHAMBLES front man Pete Doherty has been jailed for six months after he was filmed smoking a crack-pipe with heiress Robyn Whitehead just days before her death.

The 32-year-old was supposed to be playing a gig in Glasgow on Friday night but Judge David Radford had other ideas - and put him behind bars until November.

Doherty was arrested in January last year by police investigating Whitehead's suspected overdose. Whitehead was the granddaughter of Teddy Goldsmith founder of  the Ecologist magazine.

Dressed in a grey suit with waistcoat and blue cravat Doherty whispered with co-defendant Peter Wolfe, 42, before pleading guilty to possessing cocaine at  Snaresbrook Crown Court in East London.

As he was led away he waved to friends and fans in the public gallery.

Doherty, of Camden, north London has been jailed on two previous occasions and has regularly been linked to cocaine use. Judge Radford called his record 'appalling'.

Doherty's pal Wolfe, who pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of cocaine and one count of supplying cocaine to Miss Whitehead, was sentenced to 12 months jail.
