teen-stabs-dadA TEENAGER who defended his uncle as he was attacked in the dark unwittingly stabbed to death his own father.

The killer teen had been staying at his uncle's home when his father Ralph Paputsakis, 47, arrived with a crowbar and launched an attack.

The 17-year-old ran to defend his uncle outside the home in Edgewood, Washington.

He grabbed a knife and stabbed the attacker several times - without realising he was stabbing his own father, according to Sergeant Mike Blair of the Piece County Sheriff's Office.

The officer added: “It was dark. There’s one porch light and no streetlights.

“The teenager saw his uncle being beaten and he tried to defend him. Then it escalated.”

When police arrived at the property, they found the two brothers in the drive - the uncle was suffering from head wounds and the father  from multiple stab wounds.

They were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but Paputsakis died from his injuries.

Mr Paputsakis' girlfriend Crystal Tate could not explain why he had started the fight.
