Octopus-boy-230DEEPAK Paswaan was born with eight limbs – due to a parasitic twin attached to his stomach.

Cruel locals in his home town of Bihar, India, called him 'freak' and 'devil' because of his shocking appearance.

But now his daily horror has turned to joy after surgeons in Bangalore using pioneering surgery managed to remove what was essentially his dead twin brother.

The overjoyed seven-year-old said: “Now I can run faster than my two brothers — before I could never keep up. I really like my new body.”   His mother Indu, 32, said: “It has changed his life — like a miracle.   “People used to throw things at him and neighbours whispered he was possessed by the Devil.   “I thought God gave us him because we sinned a lot in past lives.”   The surgeons carried out the $100,000 operation free of charge.   Lead surgeon Dr Ramcharan Thiagarajan said: “This is a very rare phenomenon — only a small proportion of babies with parasitic twins live."

A documentary called Deepak — Extraordinary People: The 8-Limbed Boy — will be shown on Channel 5 on Thursday, 6 September, at 9pm.
