slutwalkHUNDREDS of men are set to join a controversial Slut Walk march which will see thousands of outlandishly dressed women descend on London.

The Slut Walk, which will start in Trafalgar Square on Saturday is a spin-off from similar events in the US and Canada aimed at highlighting how society blames women for their appearance.

But the walk is expected to backfire as it becomes a magnet for men, perverts and tabloid photographers.

High Profile Slut Walker Zoe Margolis, author of the sex blog-turned-book Girl with a One-Track Mind, defended the action saying: “I think we are trying to achieve that women are not to blame for sexual assault. We are showing solidarity with each other and also the men who are choosing to march alongside us.

“There's a real sexist double standard about how men and women are viewed based on their appearance. We really need to take the focus off what a woman is wearing and what she looks like.

“We are trying to use the power of the word to get attention to the cause which is about challenginf how people see women and their sexuality and there are lots and lots of men going on the demo too.”

But Patrick Hayes, journalist and commentator with online magazine Spiked, said: “I think what we are seeing here is a widespread demonisation of men. The idea that what you wear doesn't provoke judgement is just ridiculous.”

The Slut Walk protest movement was sparked by Canadian police officer Michael Sanguinetti's advice to women to 'avoid dressing like sluts'.
