youtube-punch-upA LAWYER riding his bicycle was viciously punched to ground in a road rage incident – which was captured on video by another cyclist.

The assault took place in South London by a furious motorist who had tried to overtake him and failed.

So far, despite about 40,000 people having watched the footage on YouTube the police have failed to make an arrest.

Victim Simon Page, 49, was in a group of seven cyclists riding from Dover to London, and was knocked to the ground by the unidentified driver outside a restaurant in Bexley Village.

He said: “We were coming through a south-east London suburb when a car tried to overtake whilst we were going past a traffic island which significantly narrowed the road. We remonstrated with the driver, shouting.

“The car stopped and the driver and passenger got out and started using very threatening language and their body language was highly aggressive.

“They saw me reading the number plate and said ‘we see you have our number, now we’re effing gonna run you over’.

“When they drove off they clipped my right hand with a wing mirror. They stopped again, but this time the driver came over and punched me to the ground.”

A Police spokesman said: “We can confirm an allegation of assault in Bexley High Street was made which is being investigated by Bexley CID.”
