New T-shirt will allow gig-goers to charge their cellphones using the sheer power of the band

coldplay-gigGIG goers will now be able to use their T-shirts to charge their mobile phones, thanks to an amazing new application of technology.

Mobile phone firm Orange have created the T-shirt which can use the noise convert the noise from the band on stage into electrical voltage.

The system uses a piezoelectric film -  sometimes found hi-fi speakers - which turns sound waves into electricity. And the film is thin enough to be woven into a cotton shirt.

Orange engineers said they chose a T-shirt because it is an everyday item that people will have on them, and because it has a large surface area which can receive a lot of sound waves.

However so far the amount of power generated  is not huge.
One Glastonbury type festival would be enough to charge the average phone once.
