Skinny bra model sparks big-boobed backlash from real women

E-mail Print PDF

bust-230A BIG BOOBED backlash has been started by ample-chested women who claim the model used to launch a new bra has hardly any bust.

The new Tonique Contour bra from Playtex is designed to fit the voluptuous woman with all the comfort of a wireless bra but the uplift of a push-up bra.

An article on dailymail.co.uk, which reads horribly like a PR puff-piece, states: “By sitting on the breast tissue itself and distributing support across the wide panel, the result is a younger looking bust without the discomfort of underwires.

An added bonus: 70 per cent of the 40 to 60 year-old women who trialled the bra before it hit stores, claimed it took years off their decolletage.”

But the woman used to model the bra appears to have a C-Cup bra-size at best – and the scathing backlash from real women with real big boobs has been swift.

Comments even on the Mail's website have included:

“How about someone a little more normal showing what the bra looks like? Pssst... not all women look like models. She's not exactly "ample".

“The same people that consider the above model as having an "ample" bust must be the same people that think Kate Winslet is plus-sized, because she's not.”

“Just looking at the picture I can see that it is not made for the big busted. The straps are to thin. They will cut into your shoulder when supporting larger breasts.”

“That model isn't bigger busted.... When you have a size of JJ breasts or more, now that is Bigger Busted. The straps are certainly too thin to keep up the weight of natural heavy breasts.”

“The model is far from big busted, and is slim. To be taken seriously they could use a a model who is 38E, 45+ and has had several children. This is where the market lets us down, and for all the hype (paid journalism?) surrounding this bra, it still.falls short.”

“We want something that provides comfortable support, looks flattering and gives a good shape and uplift under clothes yet is still pretty to make us feel sexy when we stand in our lingerie. The least sexy thing is strap marks that leave red grooves on your your skin for the next hour or two after the bra comes off.”

“Even in the pictures you can tell this is not THE bra for larger busted girls, the bra on the model has not been properly fitted the middle does not sit as it should between the breasts and as previously stated the straps are too thin to support the weight of the breasts without cutting into the shoulders.”

“Why use a model who clearly is not ample in that department to show off this bra? You need someone with much bigger breasts than that to prove it will do its job. And the straps are too thin for the big-busted. I don't think I'll be wasting £30 on that.”
